DC for Memorial Day

We can see the Air Force Memorial from the window of our 'boss hog' hotel room (Eric's way of saying it is especially awesome) and we saw a lot of other things this weekend as well. We visited the Air and Space museum where just two years ago Emerson had explained, vividly, to another young child that the missiles we were looking at could go all the way to Italy. This time we took in a planetarium show called Journey to the Stars which the boys LOVED (Ethan was pretty sure it was actually a ride and that we were moving, which helped, I'm sure). A major deluge inspired us to don Smithsonian branded ponchos to make it to the Metro without getting too drenched. On Memorial Day we enjoyed brunch with Brin in Virginia before making our way up to an adventure playground in DC where we hung out with Margaret and Tony and their crew. We stopped on the way home at the Lincoln Memorial - which Emerson had recently noticed on close examination of his birthday money - and I found it hard to read the Gettysburg Address to the children without getting choked up. It was a very memorable Memorial Day.
