Ethan is a force of nature. He is old enough now that he knows what he wants (and doesn't want) and has very little tolerance for those who would ask him to consider otherwise. His cute little tongue peeks out of his mouth, just to the left of his two bottom teeth, when he is concentrating, especially on walking which he is now doing plenty of. His other current hobbies include throwing his finger foods on the floor for sport, crawling under kitchen table to eat the dropped food, throwing a tennis ball at the wall repeatedly (so that it comes back to him) and climbing up on top of high things if I turn my back for a millisecond.
Emerson is a very engaging young boy. Being tall and quite verbal, strangers often ask me when he turns 4. Our current pastimes include neighborhood tours to examine the Halloween decorations (and trying to figure out how scared to be of them*), going to music class where each kid sings solo to a frog puppet at the start of class (Emerson sang back to Froggy on our second time to class!), and telling the time. If you ask Emerson what time it is he will most likely tell you: "Forty forty, ninety eight point six."**
I think my favorite moments these days are watching the boys interact. They often make each other laugh hysterically, and the joke is probably on me as it is not usually clear to me what is so funny. They are starting to figure out that they are brothers and what that means. I am hoping that, among other things, it means they are great friends.
*Some of these decorations are really creepy!
**I love that no part of that could actually be a time.
