Ericmas in Kauai

Our third tropical Ericmas took place in Kauai this year. We were dressed for a good time and enjoyed the hotel's free hula happy hour on more than one occasion.

Father and son enjoyed seeing the hula girls, I mean beautiful sunset.
While this may look like a fake backdrop, it was actually a great lookout at the Kalalau valley. Over that ridge is Jurassic Park territory, which in real life is called the Na Pali coast. Between here and there there is no road and we heard stories of the earth moving equipment mired in the swamp there as a monument to the ill-fated attempt to create one.
We enjoyed beach time and pool time, as well as another-resort's-lawn time.*
Emerson greatly enjoyed hanging by the pool. Only once did he throw someone else's shoe into the water. She was very understanding. It looked like a pretty nice shoe.
It was a great trip! Happy Birthday Eric and Happy First Christmas Emerson!

*I love this photo. Baby elephant? Duckling? Lion cub? So sweet.
