Gama visits

Gama came to visit the boys for a week, timed to help ease the transition as Eric resumed classes this week. It was great to have some help and Emerson loved having Gama here as co-conspirastor once again. It was a great week! Here's Gama with the littlest E.

Joy and Dan visit the boys

We had a great weekend with "Go Joy" and Grandpa Dan. We spent a lot of good time playing at home with all of Emerson's new toys and also had a few fun outings including checking out a new park. For the last few days, Emerson has been remembering his favorite moments from the visit such as coming up to you and saying "church - people!" (he skips the whole "this is the steeple, open the doors and here are the" part). And when you do it for him then he smiles and says "Grandpa!"

The other day as we were relaxing in the family room, Emerson disappeared into the laundry room and emerged wearing one of my hats and his dad's dress shoes. He was clearly headed somewhere important. I think the repeated phrase is "Watch out!" - I guess he didn't want anyone getting in his way.

Great Aunts!

We were lucky to have my aunts Jane and Barbara both visit over the last week. Emerson loved having new people to play with and it was a real treat for Eric and me to have some grown-up conversation. It was also a great excuse for some family excursions beyond the grocery store: we took a sunset walk on a gulf-facing park, tried a new Mexican restaurant, spent a morning at the aquarium and went back to the beach on a beautiful New Year's Day. It was great fun to have them here and we hope they will come back again soon!
