Baby crocs

Thanks to Mykael for finding this teeny version of the adult shoe that has swept the nation (world?). Emerson wore them well!

Emerson and Scout laugh

Was this an inside joke? Who knew that a spinning a top could be so funny.

No sock is safe (or dry)

Emerson's got quite a few new tricks these days. He's getting up on his hands and knees and rocking - his best chance at forward locomotion so far. Crawling feels terrifyingly imminent (let the child-proofing begin!).

Getting his toes into his mouth also seems to be a favorite of his not to mention a crowd-pleaser. This results is a lot of soggy socks, on his feet and otherwise.

We tried out the new high chair (thank you Joy and Dan!) in anticipation of getting the all clear to try out some solid food. Emerson is clearly eager to be eating something other than breastmilk. (Yes, that's a sock.)

On the Russian River

Here's Emerson enjoying a weekend getaway to hang out with friends in a big house on the Russian River.

My return to work is prompting this blog to shift to more of a weekly update format as opposed to a daily update format. There may still be some midweek gems to share, and I promise we'll update promptly with any major new developments.

Air bath

Benjamin Franklin used to take air baths:

"I rise early almost every morning and sit in my chamber, without any clothes whatever, half an hour or an hour, according to the season, either reading or writing."

We thought Emerson might enjoy an occasional air bath as well.

One last Michigan picture

I am still holding on to our trip. Here's one last favorite photo from that amazing time.
