Two Weeks in California, part 1

We took what felt like the longest vacation of our lives and spent time in San Francisco, Healdsburg and Lake Tahoe with many of our California friends. Here are just a few of the highlights from the first part of our trip (the ones we remembered to take pictures of at least!) when we spent time with G-Pa and G-Ma in Berkeley (where the kids used the cat door and made an umbrella fort, among other new experiences) and enjoyed hiking and visiting with Jamaica, Nelson and Enso in San Francisco. What fun!

Happy 3rd Birthday Ethan!

Ethan turned 3 today! And he was very excited about it. He had his birthday party at a bounce house place near where we live and he invited neighbor friends as well as his friends from his class at school. He was simply beaming as he ran and played during his party.

What to say about Ethan at age three? He is singularly obsessed with knee socks and trying on other people's shoes. He loves music: he sings - especially the Hanukkah songs he has learned at school, and lots of others as well, he dances ("Happy" is a favorite but he's not picky), he drums (on drums and other stuff, again, not picky), he bangs on the keyboard and he plays a mean bluesy harmonica.

Ethan's exuberance is unmatched. He makes us - and most people he encounters - laugh every day. Eric and I feel so lucky that we get to spend so much time with him. Happy Birthday Ethan!

Holiday Faire

The Waldorf School where Emerson goes, and Ethan will soon go, has an annual Holiday Faire which is a whimsical and wondrous event. The kids enjoyed various crafts as well as a puppet play and a story told by the 4th grade teacher. There was also a sort of "sledding" which involved riding boxes down a large pile of mulch. See - we don't miss winter at all!
